Carlos to be Dynamos manager

July 03, 2015 12:29 am | Updated 12:29 am IST - NEW DELHI:

As the deadline to confirm the manager was June 30, it shouldn’t be long before the Dynamos announce Carlos' arrival.

Brazilian legend Roberto Carlos is expected to be Delhi Dynamos’s manager in the second season of the Indian Super League.

While the franchise is yet to confirm the appointment, it has been reliably learnt that the former Brazilian left-back will take charge of the side.

Carlos has had short stints with Turkish sides Sivasspor and Akhisar Belediyespor in the past. Although he was rumoured to be close to joining Qatar’s Al-Arabi last month, Dynamos were able to fend off any competing interest.

Vijayan asst. coach

On Thursday, Dynamos named former India striker Raman Vijayan as the assistant coach of the first team. The 38-year-old has also been installed as the Technical Director to the franchise’s grassroots programme. According to a Dynamos release, the team’s assistant coach last season, Shakti Chauhan, will work in a partnership with Vijayan. The Indian duo will form part of Carlos’s backroom staff.
