Mohun Bagan ended a prolonged winless run with a 4-0 drubbing of United Sports Club in a 13th round I-League encounter here on Friday. Chirstopher Chizoba, who made his debut for Bagan, scored twice before Ram Malik and the captain Okolie Odafa scored one apiece for the winner.

Desperate for a win after playing three draws and suffering two losses in the previous five rounds, Bagan ended the success drought riding on the scoring ability of Chirstopher. The Nigerian, who came to the side recently after compatriot Eric Muranda was released for non-performance, found the lead early in the 20th minute and when he was released on the United SC box by Odafa.

Christopher doubled it the lead just before the break when he made another neat finish to put Bagan on the victory path. United SC, which has done the best among the city clubs so far by remaining unbeaten in the last four rounds, failed to get its act together as Bagan continued to attack regularly. Malik enhanced the lead in the 51st minute capping a fine solo effort while Odafa scored off , whose lack of form bothered Bagan in the previous few rounds, regained his touch with a fine effort in the 73rd minute.
