A handful of Chennai Super Kings cricketers – Brendon McCullum was the only star player in the mix – practised at MAC ‘B’ here on Thursday. The side is undergoing a three-day camp ahead of the Champions League T20 competition.

While M.S. Dhoni, Suresh Raina, R. Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have been given a break from the camp, some others such as West Indies’ Dwayne Bravo, Dwayne Smith, and Samuel Badree will join the group over the next two days. Faf du Plessis will catch up with the side in Hyderabad. CSK plays its first match – against Kolkata Knight Riders – on September 17.

Speaking to presspersons, paceman Ishwar Pandey said the spirit in the camp has been good. “We help each other out, not put pressure on one another. We are confident that we can win the title,” he said.

The lanky Pandey, who had been training at the MRF Pace Foundation before joining the camp, said “I have been practising bowling yorkers at the nets. It is an important delivery for me.”
