International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman N. Srinivasan said here on Sunday that the recent rule changes in the ODIs was to “restore balance between the bat and the ball in the game.” He was speaking after inaugurating a new automated irrigation system at the TNGF-Cosmopolitan Club.
Srinivasan said, “The ICC has a Cricket Committee which is headed by Anil Kumble. The panel has capable men. They must have taken the recent pattern of scoring in the ODIs into account before arriving at their decision. The bowlers stand to benefit.”
Queried about the allegations made against some BCCI officials including him by former IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi, Srinivasan said, “I have never responded to what Mr. Modi has said in the past. Nor will I respond to them now or in the future.”

He said, “Golf is as much a passion for me as cricket is. I play golf regularly. I enjoy it.” Srinivasan is the president of Tamil Nadu Golf Federation (TNGF).
Talking about the new state-of-the-art sprinkling system at the TNSG-Cosmo Club, Srinivasan said, “You have to laud the spirit of TNGF. You will also have to appreciate TNGF’s good understanding with the Cosmopolitan Club. What you see today is the result of that understanding.”
He said the relaying of four greens and the installation of the new sprinkling system had cost the TNGF around Rs. 3 crore. “We have more money in the kitty. Our own club house will come soon,” Srinivasan added.
