Assam, Kerala, TNCA President’s XI, and UPCA won their third-round matches and progressed to the quarterfinals of the Kalpathi-AGS Buchi Babu all-India cricket tournament here on Friday. TNCA Districts XI, Hyderabad, and Gujarat had qualified in the last round, while Odisha made the cut from Group C after Baroda lost to Kerala on day two.
Off-spinner M. Prabhu’s seven-wicket haul helped President’s XI bowl out Andhra for 122 after it had been set a target of 343 to win. Andhra, at one stage, was on 88 for three before losing its last seven wickets for 34 runs.

Kerala chased down Baroda’s 334, thanks to a 197-run opening stand between Vishal Vinod (120, 110b, 13x4, 6x6), who scored a quickfire ton, and Sachin Mohan (98, 129b, 14x4).
UPCA’s left-arm pace-spin duo respectively of R.P. Singh (four for 95) and Ali Murtuza (three for 79), and seamer Praveen Kumar (three for 26) dashed Haryana’s hopes of surpassing the former’s 338 as it was bowled out for 278.
In other action, left-arm spinner J. Syed Mohammad claimed five wickets for Assam as Bengal was bowled out for 199.

V. Maaruthi Raghav’s effort (100 n.o., 163b, 11x4, 2x6) went in vain as TNCA XI failed to go past Mumbai’s 379. Both teams were eliminated in the previous round.
