The BCCI’s (Board of Control for Cricket in India) push for a bigger chunk of the revenue from ICC’s (International Cricket Council) earnings will be the central theme of the emergent working committee meeting, here on Thursday.
Matters pertaining to the conduct of the IPL will also be deliberated upon. “There will be a discussion about possible venues (in the event of the IPL moving out of India). But we won’t deliberate on the fixtures at this juncture. We will take a call once the schedule for the general elections is out,” a highly-placed BCCI official told The Hindu on Wednesday.
It is also understood that the ‘position paper’ — that seeks to vest most of the ICC’s power in the hands of the BCCI, Cricket Australia, and the England & Wales Cricket Board — drafted by a working group of the ICC’s Finance and Commercial Affairs committee will be discussed.

BCCI Secretary Sanjay Patel has been quoted by recent media reports as having confirmed the development. Patel, however, was non-committal on the revenue-sharing model, stating instead that the feasibility of different models will be explored.
The meeting is expected to be a re-affirmation of BCCI’s support — as one of the key stakeholders — to the proposal. It will be put to vote at the quarterly meeting of the ICC Executive Board to be held in Dubai on January 28 and 29. While New Zealand Cricket has offered its support to the proposal, Cricket South Africa has sought its withdrawal.
