Sehwag remains doubtful

April 11, 2013 11:39 pm | Updated 11:39 pm IST - New Delhi:

Virender Sehwag remains a doubtful starter for Delhi Daredevils for the fourth straight game even though the opener did spend time at the nets on the eve of their match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Sehwag, who has been out of action with back spasms since the beginning of the IPL, was seen facing both pacers and spinners for quite some time before walking off for further treatment.

South African Morne Morkel said a decision on Sehwag’s availability for the match will be taken on Friday morning.

“He is getting better but we still aren’t sure if he is match-fit. That decision will only be taken by the team management,” said Morkel.

Morkel confident

His team may be without a win so far in the IPL but Morkel is confident a change of fortunes is just one good game away. SRH is coming on the back of a loss in the previous match in Bangalore.

“With Dale Steyn leading the attack, bowling is our strength but we also have talented batsmen.

“We are looking to improve as a side and not thinking of what the opposition might do,” said V.V.S. Laxman, team mentor of SRH.

Laxman admitted that the absence of Shikhar Dhawan was an issue but said there were others who have the ability to step up to the team’s cause.

“Our aim is to try and play to our strengths and not be overawed by the opposition.

“Virat played a brilliant game the other night and we know Sehwag can be a dangerous player but we are not thinking of that.”
