Besides probing Gurunath Meiyappan, the three-member Commission appointed by the BCCI will investigate the role of India Cements, which owns Chennai Super Kings, and Jaipur IPL Pvt. Ltd, which owns Rajasthan Royals. The members of the Commission are Justice T. Jayarama Chouta and Justice R. Balasubramanian — both former Madras High Court judges — and BCCI secretary Sanjay Jagdale.
Justice Balasubramanian told The Hindu from Chennai that he received a communication on Thursday from Prof. Ratnakar Shetty, Manager, Game development, BCCI, giving details such as the names of persons and entities against whom the enquiry was to be conducted. He said a chairman would be appointed at the first meeting of the commission. “Once the chairman is appointed and the BCCI is informed, the BCCI will send a formal complaint, the materials, and the scope of the enquiry.”
He said a detailed procedure had been prescribed under the IPL rules for conducting the probe, and wide powers had been given for summoning people.

Asked whether Mr. Srinivasan, as head of India Cements, would be summoned as a witness, Justice Balasubramanian said: “Unless I see the actual complaint, it will be premature to say anything at this stage. Who is the person or are the persons actually involved will be known only after I see the complaint.”
He said: “We will fix the time limit [for the completion of the probe] while nominating the chairman.” Indications are that Justice Chouta will be made chairman.

Suspended cricketer Ankeet Chavan, an accused in the spot-fixing scandal, was granted interim bail on Thursday for a week by a Delhi court so he could attend his wedding scheduled for June 2. By denying the player an opportunity to get married, “not only he but also the would-be bride and other relatives would suffer because of no fault of theirs,” Additional Sessions Judge Vinay Kumar Khanna said. He was asked to surrender on June 6.
