It seems 2011 was only yesterday as the 2015 World Cup is upon us almost abruptly! Yes, time flies — good times more so than otherwise. The biggest cricket event is in our midst. Maybe, as holder of the coveted Cup, India is feeling the self created hype that much more, most undesirably, if I may add. Well, that’s how the cookie crumbles; so be it!
At least we can afford to put the sad episode of BCCI battling out in the Supreme Court on the back burner for a while… but only just. It was hoped that the Australian tour would help the Indian team get familiar with conditions for the big event, but has it really? As we wait impatiently for India’s opening game with Pakistan in Adelaide, we are informed that India has never lost to Pakistan in World Cup encounters.
India is the World Cup holder, so what’s this fuss about?! But then how do we show the world that maturity is not a great asset or a prerogative which rests comfortably on our shoulders!

Admittedly, India playing Pakistan is special. But it is just another game of cricket, nothing more, nothing less! So calm down and let’s hope good contest will be in the offing.
Hundred overs is a lot of cricket in good ODI neutral conditions, maybe not for my appetite! But then give me an ODI any time ahead of wretched T20!
In many ways it’s just as well India vs Pakistan is the opening game of 2015 World Cup. Both the teams can get over with it; then relax a bit, with a bit of luck ... if the media allows!

As usual, everything in both India and Pakistan will come to a halt. Personally, I can’t get over the fact that no 15 degrees spectacle will be on display in either camp! Let’s be grateful for small mercies by the ICC!
