The Board of Control for Cricket in India said that the disciplinary proceedings against Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) did not violate any bylaw of the Board’s Memorandum and Rules and Regulations (MORR).
This was in response to RCA representative Mehmood Abdi’s claim that the “so called or their’’ Disciplinary Committee did not have the jurisdiction because it was one member short and that it was not appointed at the AGM in September 2013.
“I am the Honorary Secretary of the BCCI, I attended last year’s AGM and the Disciplinary Committee was appointed at that meeting.

“The minutes of the 2013 AGM has to be approved before its being circulated. The BCCI’s MORR is very clear on the subject of a banned party not being allowed to be assisted by a lawyer at the disciplinary committee meetings.
“I cannot go against the BCCI’s constitution and so their request to avail a lawyer was turned down. We have deferred the meeting to another date,” said Sanjay Patel, secretary, BCCI.
Having suspended the RCA on May 6 for electing Lalit Modi as its President, the BCCI, as per its MORR had to come up with a final adjudication within six months.

The BCCI has imposed a life ban on Lalit Modi following a long disciplinary proceeding conducted by Jyotiraditya Scindia and Arun Jaitley on IPL irregularities.
