The BCCI has assured the West Indies team that it will speak to the latter’s Board and attempt to resolve the pay dispute that led to the cricketers threatening a strike hours before the India-West Indies series kicked off.
“We have tried to assure them [the West Indies management] that their problems would be sorted out. I have told them that I would speak to the West Indies Cricket Board chief as well,” Sanjay Patel told The Hindu on Thursday.
There were also rumours on regional television channels here about the BCCI offering payments to the West Indies cricketers. Clearly irritated by a query on the subject, Patel said: “I can tell you that no payment has been made by and no assurance to that effect has also been made.”
