We need to take wickets early tomorrow, says Ashwin

R. Ashwin said India needs a few wickets on Friday morning to be ‘back in the mix’ for the fourth Test.

“You cannot put a number on this pitch, there was something in the wicket and they bowled well but we did well to get those wickets in the end,” he said.

Playing a Test after missing six since the game at Johannesburg, last December, the off-spinner admitted to a touch of nerves during his batting stint.

“It felt really good, went and enjoyed my game, was a bit scratchy in the beginning. Pretty disappointed that I threw it away in the end,” he said.

And as for his bowling, he added: “I was feeling through.”

Ashwin also praised M.S. Dhoni’s knock.

Gutsy game

“Dhoni’s was a gutsy game, he asked me to play my shots and we rotated the strike,” he said and mentioned that Varun Aaron bowled ‘quick and sharp.’

Later, Stuart Broad said that the first hour was a good time to bowl.

“We got decent deliveries and the Indian batsmen needn’t kick themselves because they didn’t play any poor shots.

“At one point, every ball seemed to get a good wicket. We bowled in good areas and it was swinging and bouncing. At the end of the day, it was a fantastic toss to lose, because we would have batted as well,” the England speedster said.
