M.S. Dhoni said that the latest Test series loss to England wasn’t the lowest point, as he considered the 4-0 drubbing here in 2011 as much worse.

“The lowest was 2011, because then we had the resources,” he said here on Sunday.

But he did express his anguish over the manner in which India repeatedly collapsed and said: “Very disappointed with the fact that we could not put any kind of fight in the last three games.”

A British journalist pointedly asked, ‘would you resign?’ and Dhoni smiled and replied: “You asked me the same question in 2011 too. Just wait and watch. I am strong enough and if I am not strong enough, you will know.”

Probed about the inability to last even one session with the bat, Dhoni candidly admitted: “It is a reflection of a batting order that has not done well. (Murali) Vijay batted well, but somehow we are not getting good opening partnerships and (Cheteshwar) Pujara is going in early (to bat) and Virat (Kohli) is going through a lean patch.”

He, however, ruled out any complacency creeping in after the triumph at Lord’s.

Talking about making technical corrections, the skipper reiterated his stated-theory of it being difficult in the middle of a series.

“I have been working on something minute from November, and it was only in Manchester I could implement. It takes time,” he explained, and as for the bowlers, the Indian captain felt that they will learn along the way.
