Sehwag crosses 7000 ODI runs

Dashing opener Virender Sehwag on Wednesday became the sixth Indian batsman to score 7000 ODI runs during his 27-ball 42 in the tri-series final against Sri Lanka.

Sehwag crossed the milestone when he reached six in 213th innings in his 219th match. He is the fourth fastest Indian to have reached the milestone.

Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, Mohammad Azharuddin and Yuvraj Singh are the other Indian batsmen who have more than 7000 runs in the format.

Ganguly took 174 innings to reach his 7000 ODI runs while Tendulkar, Dravid, Yuvraj and Azharuddin needed 189, 204, 215 and 233 innings, respectively.

Sehwag, who has 12 hundreds and 25 fifties to his credit in the 50-over format, has also scored 6248 runs from 72 Test matches.
