The suspended IPL chairman, Lalit Modi, whose reply to the BCCI show-cause was submitted on Saturday, had written to Chirayu Amin (interim chairman, IPL) before the May 10 deadline given for replying. Mr. Modi, who had asked for a five-day extension of the deadline, wrote:
“As requested by you, the documents will be delivered to Prof. Ratnakar Shetty [Chief Administrative Officer, BCCI] against due acknowledgment at the Cricket Centre. I, however, join issue with the assertion that these documents should have been kept at the Cricket Centre. These documents were lawfully and to the knowledge of all concerned (including you) always kept at the office of the chairman of IPL.
“Similarly, to the knowledge of all (including you), documents relating to and/or concerning the Secretary's office are/were kept with Mr. Srinivasan at Chennai and the documents relating to and/or concerning the Treasurer's office are/were kept with Mr. Pandove at Mohali. Everything that was perfectly fine for all these years has now seemingly become objectionable overnight as far as I am concerned.

“I am pained by this and the double standards applied (one for me and the other for everyone else). I would therefore request that such entirely misconceived issues not be raised.''
Prof. Shetty said he had received the reply to the show cause served on Mr. Modi through his legal counsel and added that he would hand it over to the BCCI president and the secretary.
