BCCI files complaint against Modi

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has filed a complaint against the former Indian Premier League (IPL) commissioner and chairman Lalit Modi, and six others, accusing them of misappropriating funds to the tune of Rs.468 crore.

BCCI secretary N. Srinivasan, on Wednesday morning, handed over the 25-page complaint to Chennai Commissioner of Police T. Rajendran demanding action. Later, Mr. Srinivasan said that annual general body meeting of the BCCI, held recently, decided to lodge a comprehensive complaint against Mr. Modi following the detection of misuse of funds during IPL.

Mr. Rajendran told

The Hindu : “Three charges of misuse of funds, including Rs. 425 crore towards media rights, Rs.29 crore towards free commercial time and Rs.14 crore towards security for matches, have been mentioned against Mr. Modi and six others in the complaint.”

Police sources said earlier Mr. Srinivasan had lodged a complaint regarding his mobile phone number being misused to send threatening texts to some IPL players and members. The matter is under investigation.
