The Olympic quota place continued to elude Chain Singh as he shot 1172 and finished 10th in men’s 50-metre rifle 3-position in the shooting World Cup that concluded in Fort Benning, US, on Monday.
Following a series of 390 in kneeling, 396 in prone and 386 in the standing position, Chain Singh missed the final by two points. Sanjeev Rajput finished 40th with a total of 1161.
While first time finalist Yuriy Yukov of Kazakhstan beat Olympic champions Zhu Qinan of China and Matthew Emmons of the US for the gold and the Olympic quota place, the second Olympic quota in the event went to the sixth-placed Toshikazu Yamashita of Japan.

In men's air pistol, Jitu Rai shot 580 and missed the final on the same score by virtue of having shot lesser number of inner-10s.
Jitu Rai had a series of 95, 97, 99, 97, 95 and 97 for the 10th place in a strong field of 95 shooters.
Prakash Nanjappa, another Olympic quota place aspirant, could not capitalise on a strong start and ended 44th with a score of 574. He had a series of diminishing quality with a sequence of 100, 97, 95, 95, 94 and 93.
