Six athletes selected

Six young athletes were selected by sprint icon P.T. Usha after the Speedstar talent hunt held all over India. The initiative by Koch Sports saw athletes being picked in the under-12, 14 and 16 categories in the finals held at the K.J. Somaiya Sports Complex (Ghatkopar) on Sunday.

The six winners will undergo a week-long training in Australia under the guidance of Australian coach Sharon Hannan, who trained the London Olympics winner Sally Pearson.

The selected athletes: Under-12: Girls: Shabnam Naik (Del), 14.04s;

Boys: Nilesh Batre (Mum), 13.31s.

Under-14: Girls: Siddhi Hiray (Pune), 13.01s;
Boys: P. Siva (Hyd), 11.72s.

Under-16: Girls: Anita Das (Kol), 12.79s; Boys: M.S. Arun (Che), 11.14s.
