Doping: 12 more athletes suspended

Cases on against a few more, orders reserved in instances of some others

Twelve more athletes have been handed four-year suspensions by the National Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel.

N. Jankiraman, Balinder Singh, Gurdeep Singh, Akshatha Poojary, M.D. Raja, Mohit (all powerlifting), Manjobanjeet Singh, Mangesh Bhagat (kabaddi), Nidhi More (wrestling), Harkirat Kaur, Manpreet Kaur (athletics) and Lok Chand (weightlifting) were suspended last month for various doping offences.

The suspension periods of these athletes started between September 1 and December 13 last year.

Meanwhile, the NADA has taken the first step towards preparing athletes’ biological passports by initiating a consultation process with various stakeholders.
