Bahamas breezes past US for relay gold

Ramon Miller stormed past Angelo Taylor down the home stretch as the Bahamas claimed Olympic 4x400 metres relay gold ahead of the United States on Friday.

Chris Brown, Demetruis Pinder, Michael Mathieu and Miller clocked a national record 2 minutes 56.72 seconds to got their nation’s first gold in the event.

The US had to settle for silver with 2:57.05 and Trinidad and Tobago took bronze in 2:59.40.

The 2011 world championship silver medallists South Africa finished last as double-amputee runner Oscar Pistorius failed to get a medal in his Olympic debut after four Paralympic golds in 2004 and 2008.
