Anjum Moudgil prevailed in the women’s 50-metre rifle 3-position event yet again in the seventh National shooting selection trials at the Dr. Karni Singh Range, Tughlakabad, on Sunday.
After qualifying with a modest 1162, two points behind former World champion Tejaswini Sawant, Anjum clinched the top spot in the event with a total of 460.2, as she beat World Cup silver medallist Lajja Gauswami by 3.7 points.
Anjum had topped the earlier trial with a better score in the qualification phase.

Tejaswini slipped to the third spot, ahead of Ayushi Podder, Shreya Saksena, Anjali Bhagwat and KC Hema, while Bhakti Bhaskar Khamkar opted to skip the final.
In the junior event, Prasiddhi beat Ayushi Podder by 4.6 points for the top spot.
In the men’s 25-metre standard pistol, 17-year-old Vijayveer Sidhu put up a strong performance as he scored 587 out of 600 to beat his twin brother, and the topper of the earlier trial, Udhayveer, by 12 points.

The two retained their position in the junior event as well.
It was a phenomenal jump for Vijayveer, after he had shot 570 in the sixth trial, the previous day.
Competition will continue with women’s air pistol and men’s centre fire pistol over the next two days, before the shooters get to train in the national camp to prepare for the Asian Championship scheduled to be held in Doha, Qatar, in November.
