Dominique Strauss-Kahn, former Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and Nafissatou Diallo, hotel maid who filed charges of sexual assault and rape against him in 2011, have reached a deal on compensation, The New York Times reported.
French daily Le Monde reported on Friday that the two had reached an agreement, under which Mr. Strauss-Kahn would pay Ms. Diallo $6 million. Neither party would be allowed to reveal details of the deal.
Mr. Strauss-Kahn, once tipped to be the Socialist candidate for the French presidential crown, claimed that they had indulged in consensual sex when he was arrested on May 14 2011.

According to reports reaching here, the two are to make a final appearance on December 7 in the court of Judge Douglas McKeon in the Bronx, New York. The agreement will put an end to the civil suit Ms. Diallo has filed against Mr. Strauss-Kahn.
Mr. Strauss-Kahn, who has no personal fortune, told his friends that he would have to contract a massive bank loan to cover the cost of his lawyers and the compensation. His $1-million bail, which made possible his release from Rikers Island, New York city’s main prison complex, in May 2011, was posted by his wife, journalist and millionairess Anne Sinclair. The two have since separated.
On August 23, 2011, the prosecutor decided to drop criminal charges against him because Ms. Diallo had lied to immigration authorities, was in contact with criminals and considered an unreliable witness. Ms. Diallo, however, slapped a civil suit on Mr. Strauss-Kahn.
