Unseasonal rain in Pune

November 06, 2018 12:15 am | Updated 12:15 am IST

Pune: Parts of the city and the district experienced brief spells of unseasonal showers on Sunday and Monday.

Officials at the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said there is a possibility of light to medium rain in the city over the next 48 hours. Kondhwa, Shivajinagar, and Swargate experienced rain for over an hour after 11 p.m. on Sunday while cloudy skies hovered over the city on Monday.

“Cloudy skies have led to a sharp rise in the daily minimum temperature in the past week, which resulted in increased humidity. Pune’s daily minimum temperature increased from 13.2 degrees Celsius on October 30 to nearly 21 degrees on November 4. However, this rise in temperature is temporary and will peter out soon,” an IMD official said.

Daily minimum temperature has also risen in Nashik, Satara, Sangli, Ahmednagar, Solapur, and other parts of the central Maharashtra in the past week.

Light showers are expected in central Maharashtra and in some districts of Marathwada in the next 24 hours.
