The relationship between Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and Congress in State is good, according to Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president K.V. Thangkabalu.

Speaking to reporters here on Sunday, he said that the Centre and the State had a very good working relationship and this had brought many development projects to Tamil Nadu.

Regarding the bandh called by Opposition parties on July 5 condemning the price rise, Mr. Thangkabalu said that constructive criticism was welcome, but the Opposition leaders were bent upon destruction.

He hoped that authorities concerned would take stern action against law offenders, and appealed to the State government to provide adequate security to the people.

Earlier, addressing party functionaries on the proposed centenary celebrations of Kakkan to be held in Madurai on July 31, Mr. Thangkabalu said that the TNCC also planned to celebrate Kamaraj birth anniversary in Virudhunagar for three days. The Congress party alone had respect and credibility among the common man.
