The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will launch a mass agitation in the State against the Ranganatha Misra Commission report which it says will adversely affect Dalit and tribal communities.
Briefing the media on the proceedings of the three-day State-level leadership meeting that began here on Sunday, party State general secretary A.N. Radhakrishnan said here on Monday that the party would launch zonal level campaigns in Dalit and Adivasi colonies in all the 1000-odd panchayats in the State in the last week of this month to mobilise support for the agitation.
The campaign would be held under the leadership of party leaders O. Rajagopal, C.K. Padmanabhan, P.S. Sreedharan Pillai, K.V. Sreedharan and P.K. Krishnadas.

Campaigns
In June, campaigns would be launched in all district centres against the commission report. Panchayat level campaign would be held in July and on December 6.
The party would organise rallies and hold seminar in four centres in the State. Party leaders and social activists in the country would participate in the seminars.

The leadership meeting attended by party district presidents and secretaries and State office-bearers discussed the commission report, Mr. Radhakrishnan said.
The party had already exchanged views with representatives of Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe communities on the report.
Civic polls
Asked about the party's strategy for the local body elections, he said the BJP had always approached the civic elections with an open mind because it viewed the elections to the local bodies as elections for development.
Temple affairs
To another question on the allegations of attempts to control temple administration, he said the party had always upheld its view that matters regarding temple administration should be decided after consultations with devotees and Hindu organisations.
