Maharashtra Cooperation Minister Harshavardhan Patil said here on Wednesday that a State team would visit Brazil on June 21 to get to know advanced techniques and marketing strategies used there.
“We have spoken to the Brazilian and Indian embassies and we are set to meet sugar associations and the Brazilian Agriculture Minister,” Mr. Patil said. Stressing the importance of automation, he said Maharashtra could benefit from Brazil on this front. “We don't have a mechanism to sell our sugar, we would like to learn that.”
Maharashtra had a surplus of sugar production and the State government was contemplating banning the import of the produce from other States.
