In a bid to minimise threats, prevent crime and safeguard public areas, the Gujarat government has decided to install CCTV-based City Surveillance and Intelligent Traffic Management System (CSITMS) in major cities of the state.

Initially, the system would be installed in cities of Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Gandhinagar and Somnath.

In all, 167 traffic junctions and 128 strategic locations have been chosen for installation of the CSITMS that will provide round the clock surveillance recording real-time information including voice and video from different areas.
