Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) president Raj Thackeray on Sunday accused the State government of resorting to selective action against the MLAs involved in the assault on a policeman on the Maharashtra Assembly premises last week.
“More than 20 MLAs were involved in the assault on that cop, including that of the Congress and the NCP but only five MLAs who belonged to the Opposition parties, were suspended. Out of five MLAs, only two were taken into custody,” said Mr. Thackeray.
Addressing a rally here, he claimed that the MLAs from the Congress and the NCP threatened the CM that they would stall the State budget if the government took action against them.

“Targeting police is wrong. Strict action should be taken against those involved in the attack on that policeman on the assembly premise even if my party MLA is involved in it. But the government action was selective,” said Mr. Thackeray.
Slamming the Congress- NCP government in the State “for failing to do proper development of the State,” Mr. Thackeray alleged that the leaders of NCP-Congress were only interested in extracting money through corruption. He alleged that between the Lok Sabha election and the State Assembly elections in 2009, NCP leader Ajit Pawar cleared projects worth Rs.25,860 crore for Vidarbha and the advance payments were paid but these projects had never seen the light of the day.
