VHP leader Ashok Singhal passes away

He was admitted to the Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon on November 14 with complaints of acute breathlessness.

Vishva Hindu Parishad leader Ashok Singhal (89), passed away at Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon at 2.30 p.m. on Tuesday following multi-organ dysfunction and sepsis.

In a statement, medical superintendent of the hospital A.K. Dubey said, “The leader was critical and on life support system. He died at 2.30 p.m.”

Mr. Singhal had been diagnosed with right lower lobe pneumonia, carbon-dioxide retention, sepsis and drowsiness.

The eader was admitted to the hospital on November 14 with complaints of acute breathlessness. He was rushed into the intensive care unit and kept under treatment by a team of specialists, comprising critical care, respiratory, cardiology, endocrinology, neurology and nephrology.

Mr. Singhal had been suffering from respiratory problems for over a month. He was earlier admitted to Medanta on October 20, after his condition deteriorated in Allahabad and was flown to Delhi in an air ambulance.
