Uttam Khobragade to contest LS polls from Vidarbha

Former IAS officer and the father of Indian diplomat Devyani Khobragade, Mr. Uttam Khobragade said on Wednesday that he would contest the upcoming Loksabha elections from a seat in Vidarbha.

However, Mr.Khobragade refused to divulge details about his possible seat and the political party he would be joining.

Mr. Khobragade, who was here to attend a function with his daughter, also criticised the RPI leader Ramdas Athvale for “joining hands with the Shivsena.”

Devyani Khobragade, while addressing a gathering of students, claimed that she could get into the Indian Foreign Services(IFS) because of reservation policy.

“But it does not mean that Dalits are inferior to any other section of the society. Dalits have to work harder than any other sections of the society and Dalit women have to work even harder to make their mark in our society,” she said.
