The United Progressive Alliance government has no right to stay in power after the multiple bomb blasts in Patna hours before the Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s rally there, the BJP said here on Sunday.
BJP spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi pointed out that the fact the bomb blasts occurred near a spot, where a person entitled to Z-plus category security was to arrive, put a big question mark on the roles of the Union Home Ministry and the State government.
The blasts were a result of “complete failure of the Intelligence Bureau and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Bihar government.

On Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s remark on Saturday that Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) was in contact with the riot-affected Muslim youth from Muzaffarnagar, Ms. Lekhi said it was “irresponsible” and demanded that he reveal the name of the Intelligence Bureau officer who reported the matter to him.
Referring to West Bengal, she alleged that the Trinamool Congress government “failed to keep the promises” on the basis of which the people of the State voted the party to power.
Emphasising the necessity for “large-scale change” in the State, Ms. Lekhi alleged that that murders and implicating people in false cases which took place during the reign of the Left Front government were still being repeated.
