Tiwari to move Supreme Court

April 28, 2012 12:34 am | Updated November 17, 2021 01:26 am IST - DEHRA DUN:

Congress leader Narain Dutt Tiwari will move the Supreme Court against the Delhi High Court ruling, which said he could be compelled to give blood sample for the DNA test in a paternity suit, Sanjay Joshi, Tiwari's officer on special duty (OSD), said here on Friday.

The Delhi High Court on Friday struck down a single judge's September 2011 order that the octogenarian leader could not be compelled to give his blood sample.

Police force could also be used if Mr. Tiwari continued to defy orders to undergo DNA test, the court said.

“We do not have a copy of the judgment. All we have are media reports. We respect the court orders and Mr. Tiwari is leaving for Delhi to move the apex court…” Mr. Joshi said.

An appeal would be filed after going through the orders.

The paternity suit has been filed by 32-year-old Rohit Shekar who claims to be Mr. Tiwari's biological son.

Mr. Tiwari has so far refused to give blood sample for the DNA test saying that he could not be forced to do so.
