Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday linked Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat’s comments on reservation to the Narendra Modi government’s legislative agenda and alleged that the ‘real target’ was social justice.
“The confidence of the RSS is high and intentions are dangerous. At a time when the BJP government is throttling pro-people laws, the RSS has also raised the issue of debate on reservation,” Ms. Vadra tweeted in Hindi.
“Debate is just an excuse, the real target of the RSS-BJP is social justice. Will you allow this to happen,” asked the Congress general secretary, addressing the citizens.

On Sunday, Mr. Bhagwat had said there should be a conversation in a harmonious atmosphere between those in favour of reservation and those against it.
But as the issue threatened to snowball into a controversy, the RSS issued a clarification saying Mr. Bhagwat merely wanted a dialogue to discuss all issues regarding reservation.
“Attempts are being made to create unnecessary controversy over some remarks by Mohan Bhagwat in his speech at a programme in Delhi. Highlighting the importance of resolving all issues in the society through cordial dialogue he had called upon everyone to exchange views on a sensitive issue like reservation,” said a statement from the RSS’s head of communication, Arun Kumar.

Responding to this statement, Ms. Vadra tweeted, “So the RSS has declared in a tweet that all ‘issues in the society’ should be resolved through cordial dialogue? I suppose either Modiji and his government no longer respect the RSS’s views or they don’t believe that there is an “issue” in Jammu and Kashmir. Interesting.”
