In a bizarre incident, a 40-year-old woman was attacked with acid by a man in Garlapadu village near Maddipadu in Prakasam district on Wednesday.
The married woman was sleeping on a cot in front of her house to escape the sultry weather when the man, Danaiah alias Daniel (40), threw acid on her in the wee hours before escaping on a motorcycle.
Maddipadu Sub-inspector M. Devakumar said the woman was rushed to the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) here with burn injuries on her face, neck and shoulder.

RIMS Director B. Anjaiah said she had 20 per cent burns but is stable. Police have launched a manhunt for the man.
