The district administration is readying the Vallabharao kunta (tank) located very close to Nalgonda by-pass road for the grand immersion of Bathukammas. The administration is spending Rs. 20 lakh.

District Collector T.Chiranjeevulu, said the women in Nalgonda used to leave the Bathukamms at temples in the past after the celebration due to lack of water bodies close to the town. Following the State government’s decision to celebrate Bathukamma in a big way, it was decided to get the Vallabharao kunta ready for the festival and hence construction of steps into the water body began. This would facilitate women to get closer to the water to immerse Bathukamma.

Municipal Commissioner G. Venugopal Reddy said that they would release the water in to the tank on September 23 from Alimineti Madhav Reddy Project (AMRP) Canal to fill it up.Mr. Reddy also said that they would ensure that there was proper lighting system besides erecting barricades for smooth passage. Meanwhile, MEPMA Project Officer, Sarveshar Reddy, said that they would be enlisting the service of 300 youth to serve as volunteers on the day of festival to guide the visitors at the tank.
