About a dozen members of the Greater Hyderabad unit of the Telangana Bhatraju Association were arrested as they staged a protest near Prasads multiplex and the NTR Marg Rotary here on Wednesday afternoon, protesting against what they called was a ‘derogatory’ portrayal of their community in Lingaa , the recently-released Rajnikanth-starrer. They were arrested by police after some slogan-shouting. They were later said to have been released on personal surety. The association’s State president B. Vishnuvardhan Raju, Greater Hyderabad presid-ent B. Sitaram Raju and secretary Karunakar took part. They said they were extremely disturbed at the way poets and litterateurs from their community were portrayed as those seeking alms from kings. They sought a public apology from Lingaa ’s producer, director and storywriter. - Special Correspondent
