The beauty of Adilabad owes itself as much to the greenery as to the unevenness of its terrain. The initial period of monsoon is the time when the vast expanses of undulations in the typically hilly land catch the eye of the traveller, providing him with a unique experience of a lifetime.
“You can just stand on the corner of an agriculture field taking in the evolving patterns on the rain-loosened soil as farmers work their ploughs through the undulations. Women working in the fields sporting colourful clothes enhance the beauty of the place,” opined Raja Sahu, an employee with a private firm involved in some survey in Asifabad mandal, which sums up what a visitor can do in this district at this time of the year.
Adilabad district is predominantly a hilly place with the lands in Nirmal and Mancherial Revenue divisions, lying along the mighty Godavari river being the exception. Most beautiful is the area between the north and the centre which forms the tribal belt in this district.

The hills certainly make agriculture a difficult proposition for the simplistic Adivasi farmers in the region, but the perpetual smiles on their faces tell a different story. The spread of nature around them is perhaps a major reason for the Adivasis not losing their cheerfulness despite adversities. This is the kind of place which suits all those who love to ride in the countryside. Enthusiasts could start their journey, preferably on two-wheelers, either at Asifabad or Utnoor.
From Asifabad, visitors need to take the 62-km-long Asifabad-Utnoor road which will enable them to venture deeper into the hilly territory where farmers can be seen tilling fields located on the slopes and hill tops. Riders can visit the far flung areas of Kerameri and Jainoor mandals by taking any of the numerous branches on the main road, besides taking others to reach Sirpur (U) and Narnoor mandals.

Visitors must carry their own food as there are no eateries once they leave Asifabad or Utnoor. There are no places to sleep either, but camping could be an exciting proposition despite the season.

1. Asifabad is about 300 km from Hyderabad.
2. Utnoor is nearly 320 km from the State capital.
3. There are good hotels at Nirmal town for those intending to travel in the agency area from Utnoor, the distance between the two places being about 100 km.
4. For those coming from Asifabad, good accommodation is available at Mancherial town, the distance between the two places being about 75 km.
5. Finding directions on the road is very easy as the Adivasi population is extremely friendly and helpful.
6. Carrying own food is a must as there are no eateries on the way though there are hotels serving snacks, but under unhygienic conditions.
