Telangana State bags three NWM-2019 awards

The awards are given to incentivise an organisation/company through awards recognising excellence in water conservation, efficient water use and sustainable water management practices

The Irrigation, Groundwater and Rural Water Supply (Mission Bhagiratha) departments of Telangana have bagged National Water Mission (NWM) awards announced on Saturday. They are among the list of 23 awardees in different categories.

The awards are given to incentivise an organisation/company through awards recognising excellence in water conservation, efficient water use and sustainable water management practices. The awards are given in 10 categories defined under five goals of the NWM.

According to officials, the Irrigation Department has been selected for the award for its Telangana Water Resources Information System (TWRIS), the Groundwater Department for its work on Users-Centred Aquifer Level Groundwater Management and the Rural Water Supply & Sanitation Department for its Mission Bhagiratha project.

The award function is scheduled to be held on September 25 at New Delhi and Union Minister for Jal Shakti and Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti would give away the awards. The prize money for the awards is: First – ₹2 lakh; Second – ₹1.5 lakh and Third – ₹1 lakh each.
