TRS targeting TDP to cover up its failures: Naidu

‘Ready to sacrifice 300 MW power if the situation warrants’. He accused the TRS government of trying to create problems between the people of the two States.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has criticised the TRS government for its attempts to portray the Telugu Desam government in bad light to cover up its failures.

He referred to the State government’s decision to stop power generation from the Srisailam project as continued power generation could result in short supply of water to Rayalaseema region. In an indirect reference to the power crisis being faced in Telangana, he said his Government had the foresight to anticipate problems on the power front post bifurcation and accordingly, initiated steps to ensure that there was power supply for two years. This apart, the government had impressed upon the NTPC Ltd. to set up 4,000 MW power plant in the State to avoid power shortages in the longer term.

“We are ready to sacrifice 300 MW power if necessary for Telangana. The Telangana government is trying to portray the people of Andhra Pradesh in bad light and hoodwinking its people,” he said. Mr. Naidu was addressing a public meting organised here on Tuesday in connection with the launch of the Farmers’ Empowerment Corporation.

‘Bid to divide people'

He accused the TRS government of trying to create problems between the people of the two States.

At the same time, the TRS was trying to “buy” TDP leaders as part of its efforts to weaken the TDP. “The Telugu Desam will continue to play its role as a constructive opposition in Telangana as it is the only party capable of uniting the Telugus,” he said.

In this context, Mr. Naidu recalled his repeated invites to the TRS leadership for a debate on which the government had created the existing facilities in Hyderabad and under whose regime the city had been placed in the global map.
