‘TRS and BJP are secret friends’

They make a show of being opponents, says Congress ex-MLA

AICC secretary and former MLA Sampath Kumar has alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) were secret friends while criticising each other openly to mislead the public.

At a press conference here, Mr. Sampath Kumar asked why the BJP was silent on several ‘faults’ of Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao government. If the BJP was sincere it would have pursued the ‘CBI case’ against KCR, Nayeem’s encounter and the silence thereafter, corruption in Kaleshwaram project and the Intermediate results fiasco, he argued.

At the same time the Chief Minister, too criticises the BJP for public consumption but extends his unconditional support to the BJP in Parliament without his MPs even registering opposition on crucial bills, he alleged. “This was only to save himself from the ‘corruption’ cases pending against him.”

Mr. Sampath Kumar warned State BJP president K. Laxman against ‘targeting’ the Congress continuously. He said Mr. Laxman doesn’t have the guts to criticise the ruling party and instead targets Congress. “Instead of targeting Congress, Mr. Laxman should worry about his position and how former Congress minister and BJP leader D.K. Aruna was playing her cards to replace him.”

On several party leaders leaving the Congress, he said the party has nothing to lose from such characters and people will see through their decisions.
