Tense situation at Chityal as TDP, TRS leaders come face to face

Tension prevailed for some time at Chityal mandal headquarters in the district on Wednesday morning after the Telangana TDP and TRS leaders came face to face and staged separate demonstration on the arterial Hyderabad-Vijayawada national highway - 65.

Tension was palpable since Tuesday after the TDP office in the district headquarters allegedly attacked by the TRS cadres. Responding to a bandh call, TTDP leaders - E. Dayakar Rao, L.Ramana, M. Narasimhulu and others were proceeding to Nalgonda to participate in a dharna when TRS workers tried to obstruct their convoy.

The TDP leaders got down from their vehicles and staged an impromptu sit-in protesting the high handed attitude of the TRS cadres. The TRS too squatted on the national highway disrupting vehicular traffic for some time. The police urged the agitating leaders to call off their dharna. The TRS leaders agreed but the TDP leaders continued with their protest.

The police then arrested the TDP leaders and whisked them away to Ramannapet police station. Meanwhile, Bhoodanpochampalli police took into preventive custody TDP MLA from Kodangal A. Revanth Reddy at Kothagudem village on NH-65, when he was on his way to Nalgonda. Police also rounded up several district level TDP leaders on the eve of the bandh call given by the party.

However, the bandh call did not evoke any response in the district.
