Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao reiterated on Friday that his government was for maintaining friendly relations with neighbouring States instead of picking up disputes with them on small issues in favour protecting the State’s interests on major issues.
Giving a clarification on an issue related to irrigation during the debate on the motion thanking Governor’s address in the Assembly, Mr. Rao said he was not interested in naming some parties but they had blown the Babli project issue out of proportion with their attitude. Telangana was in need of cooperation from neighbouring States such as Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and others in case of projects like Lendi, Penganga, Pranahita-Chevella and Inchampalli.
Rupture on small issues would not help either side, he said reminding that it was TRS that moved the Supreme Court on Babli issues, but the verdict had favoured the argument of Maharashtra. The government’s aim would be ensure minimum possible loss to Telangana’s interests on major issues, he noted.

However, he was critical of the attitude of the present regime in Andhra Pradesh alleging that it was acting arrogantly on many issues and it would have to pay the price one day.
