Tap connection mela in Karimnagar

Taking cue from Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s ambitious programme of Telangana water grid scheme to provide tap connections to all households in the State, Karimnagar municipal corporation went a step ahead and started distributing water tap

connections to the below poverty line people from Thursday onwards.

The Hindu on Thursday, Mayor S Ravinder Singh said that the ‘tap connection mela’ was launched for the benefit of poorer sections. “We are providing tap connections on the spot for Rs. 200 only. The municipal authorities are digging the pipeline and providing pipe and connection to house free of cost and also issuing tap connection pass book on the spot,” he said.

Stating that they had identified around 12,000 houses without , he said that they would achieve hundred per cent tap connections through this mela. He said that the consumer was saving around Rs 3,500 per tap connections and instantly getting water tap to his house.
