Talent transcends the regional divide

July 16, 2014 11:04 pm | Updated 11:04 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Several contract Andhra officers are in demand at Telangana Secretariat

Post bifurcation, there may be a division among the government employees on the basis of their nativity.

However, in the case of qualified and competent officers working on contract basis, their nativity no longer seems to be an issue in the Telangana State.

Interestingly, several contract and outsourced officers working in the finance department and involved in online budget preparation hailed from Seemandhra region. Post bifurcation, the Telangana government gave a go ahead to the departments concerned to tap the talent irrespective of their nativity. As a result at least two officers working on contract basis and well versed in IT and budget preparation were offered lucrative emoluments, significantly higher than their present salary in AP State, and other perks. The officers, of course, accepted the offer and now moved to the Telangana Secretariat, according to sources.

There is no doubt the officers are competent and their services were solicited based on the requirement in Telangana Secretariat. However, in Andhra Pradesh Secretariat there are others who could step into their place, sources in the AP Secretariat added.

Several Andhra origin officers working on contract basis and recruited from Centre for Good Governance and working in Andhra Secretariat were also apparently approached to work for Telangana Secretariat due to dearth of Telangana officers. But not everyone is keen to accept the offers, sources added.
