In-charge Collector A. Ravinder Reddy has asked the authorities to take steps to prevent attacks on Scheduled Castes and Tribes and conduct Civil Rights Day on the 30th of every month as part of the measures.
He said that travelling and dearness allowances would be paid to witnesses attending the cases in courts or on other occasions. There was no single incident of delay in payment of ex-gratia to the victims in the atrocities (preventive) cases, he added.
Ravinder Reddy was addressing the district-level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee meeting held at the Collectorate, here on Friday. MLC V.G. Goud, Sub-Collector, Bodhan, Sikta Patnaik, DD Social Welfare, Mohan Reddy, Nizamabad RDO Vinod Kumar and Armoor RDO Srinivas, officials and committee members participated in the meeting.

He said ex-gratia payment was being paid as soon as they received the comprehensive reports from the police. There were 45 SC, ST atrocity cases pending in the district and therefore police should act promptly to solve them at the earliest, he said. He sought to know the reasons for cases remaining unsolved for years together.
V.G. Goud suggested to the authorities to launch campaign by distributing pamphlets to prevent attacks on SC, STs. Since the government enhanced the subsidy on the schemes meant for the welfare of the both communities, they should make use of them, he said, and added that ineligible persons were enjoying the benefits of the vehicle subsidy scheme meant for the SC and STs.
