Ragging others may give you pleasure, but it also gives you enormous pain that you cannot relieve ever, warned Police Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu.
Addressing the students on Kakatiya University campus at anti-ragging awareness campaign here on Saturday, the Commissioner said the students should focus only on studies and competitive examinations rather waste their time seeking pleasure in petty things. “Ragging is a serious crime and attracts severe punishment. You will not get passport or any government job in future,” he explained.
Those involved in ragging will be fined from Rs 1,000 to Rs 50,000 with imprisonment from six months to ten years. Instead of engaging in petty issues, the students should plan for their career and contribute to society. Despite the resource crunch, the governments were spending huge sum on providing infrastructure to health and education. Despite financial problems, many parents aspire to see their children educated and become good citizens. The students should keep these in mind while on university campus and do what is expected of them by the parents and society, Police Commissioner Sudheer Babu said.

In-charge Registrar Prof. Kahaja Althaf Hussain said that stringent measures were being taken to make the campus ragging-free.
University Anti-Ragging Committee chairman Prof. T. Ravinder Reddy, co-chairman Prof. N. Rama Swamy, convener Dr. T. Manohar and Hanamakonda ACP P. Shobhan Kumar spoke on the occasion.
