State to take up pharma industry issues

State committed to create enabling enviroment for industry, says Minister

Telangana government has consolidated a list of 12 major recommendations by the BioAsia conference here recently and will take them up with the Centre to create an enabling environment for the pharma industry.

This was stated by Industries Minister K.T. Rama Rao while welcoming the Centre’s notification that no objection certificate for export consigments to any country shall not be insisted if such shipping bills were filed by the manufacturers themselves, having valid licenses under Drugs and Cosmetics Act and Rules.

Mr. Rao said the notification was a result of various issues taken up by Telangana government with the Centre to ensure an enabling environment for industrial growth.

Quoting Mr. Rao, a release said the notification was a welcome move and will significantly boost the export of pharmaceuticals and medical devices. He said he was happy that the State government’s efforts to advocate issues of pharma industry was already yielding positive results. The government will take up the 12 major recommendations at the BioAsia conference with the Centre. He thanked the Drug Controller General of India and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. He also said it was pertinent to note that the Centre had ordered setting up of a public relation office at the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation in New Delhi that would to serve as a single window for information.
