State to press for enhanced quota to BCs, STs, minorities

The State government has not only initiated steps to implement the electoral promises but will also initiate and implement new plans and schemes to fulfil the aspirations of people, said Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan in his address to the joint session of Telangana Legislature here on Saturday.

The State will continue to press for implementation of 33% reservation to BCs, 33% reservation to women in legislatures, 10% reservation to STs and 12% to minorities and for SC categorisation for which Assembly forwarded the resolution to the Centre.

New zonal regulations

The Governor said that recruitment in Telangana would take place in accordance with the provisions of new zonal regulations.

The new zonal system with seven zones and two multi zones was created to enable locals to get 95% of opportunities in all local cadre jobs.

The real fruits of achieving separate Telangana would be realised only when the locals get employment opportunities, he said.

Reiterating that the State achieved impressive 17.17% for four years and 29.93% in the current financial year so far due to the innovative policies and financial discipline of the State, Mr. Narasimhan said several programmes were also initiated to provide employment opportunities to youth through expansion of industrial and IT sector.

Power sector

On power front, the government is constructing new plants to convert Telangana as a power surplus State to bring 28,000 MW of installed capacity of power and 1080 MW Bhadradri Power Plant would commence generation from this year to its full capacity and 4000 MW Yadadri ultra mega thermal power plant construction is on fast track. It made a mark in non-conventional energy by generating 3,613 MW of solar power.

KG to PG

Under the KG to PG education policy, government set up 542 new residential schools with all facilities for SC, ST, BC and minorities and another 119 would start in the next academic year.

Health and Medical services got a boost with ‘KCR Kits’ to improve institutional deliveries and more free health camps with diagnostic services would be organised to get health profile of every individual in the coming months.

The Governor said that food processing units would be established across the State to ensure remunerative prices to the farmers and they would be jointly run by the Government and IKP employees and women groups.
