The stalemate over EAMCET continues even after the two Ministers from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh met the Governor, E.S.L. Narasimhan, on Saturday evening and discussed for over an hour to find the much-awaited solution to the imbroglio.
The Telangana Education Minister, G. Jagadish Reddy, and AP HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao did not reveal anything of their deliberations with the Governor to media persons. While Mr. Reddy did not speak to the media, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said that they would again meet the Governor if there was a need. Sources, however, said that the Governor was keen on convincing the two Ministers to conduct only single EAMCET for both the States but the decision has to be arrived at by both the governments after discussions and he cannot force them to toe his line. Mr. Narasimhan is said to have put a few options before them, including conducting the test jointly, sharing it equally over two years and conduct separate tests with both the parties agreeing to it through deliberations.
Earlier, an official of the A.P. Government indicated that they would explore legal options if their ‘interests’ were compromised as it believed that the APSCHE had the authority to conduct the test as per the A.P. Reorganisation Act. “We will take a decision after watching the developments over the few days,” an official said explaining that it was being done in students’ interest. The Telangana officials, however, preferred to maintain silence on the developments.

Meanwhile, Raj Bhavan officials clarified that they did not support the stand of the Telangana government on EAMCET as was reported in a section of the media.
