Speed up Smart City DPR: Naidu

A preliminary report on Smart City should be ready by December and the final detailed project report in 15 months, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said.

At a meeting with USTDA Country Representative Mehnaz Ansari and representatives of a consortium of AECOM, KPMG, and IBM selected for preparing the DPR, Mr. Naidu said that the preliminary report should be ready by December when the Smart City Challenge proposal had to be submitted to the Union government. He said that in spite of the MoU signed during the visit of the Prime Minister with the U.S. President, no progress had been made so far on preparing the DPR. In contrast, the plan of Andhra Pradesh’s new capital Amaravati was readied by Singapore in six-seven months. He assured speedy approval or fund release.

Union Urban Development Minister M .Venkaiah Naidu said the plan should be worked out keeping in view the conditions in Visakhapatnam and availability of land. . People’s view will be considered,, he said.
